Calvert County treats a residential interior alteration as work that needs a building permit, and it splits the trades out: electrical permits are filed by a licensed master electrician, and plumbing and gas permits by a licensed master plumber. On a typical kitchen, that can mean three permits and several inspections.
We put the whole package together — building permit, trade permits, and any Environmental Health review if the home is on a well or septic — and submit it through the county's Encompass online portal. Then we schedule the inspections in the right order so the drywall doesn't go up before the electrical rough-in is signed off.
