Floor covering alone is simple. Calvert County defines an interior alteration as altering the interior space, including demolition, improvement, or renovation, and requires a building permit for it. If your flooring job becomes structural repair, we file the permit through the county's Encompass portal. Since September 1, 2026, Calvert offers expedited review for eligible interior renovations with no added square footage outside the Critical Area — the county says required agencies review within two business days once the Environmental Health review fee is paid.
