A heated floor turns a cold tile bathroom into the most comfortable room in the house. An electric heating mat goes down on the subfloor under the tile, and a thermostat on the wall runs it. It works under tile and stone, and some systems are rated for use under other floor types.
The part people don't think about is the power. A heated floor needs a proper electrical connection, which we have done by a licensed electrician. In St. Mary's County, electrical inspections are done by the county's approved inspection agency, and we schedule any that apply. We plan the mat layout around the vanity, toilet, and tub so the heat goes where your feet actually are.
